Scenario-Based Strategic Modeling of Road Transport Demand and Performance

Road infrastructure plays an important role in the economic and social development of societies. Thus, it requires effective timely responses to cope with embrace uncertain future changes. This study proposes integrated, scenario-based strategic model which estimates transport demand, network performance, emission, energy consumption. The accounts for economic, behavioral, policy, technological developments by including four scenarios traces possible changes performance. It primarily aims at supporting decisions quantifying a set environmental performance indicators along their spatial–temporal dimension. Moreover, effects demand transition policies on road are considered within each scenario. is applied case region covering main industrial urban regions Netherlands. discussed results provide insights into investments scenario elaborate policies.
